Tiling over painted walls.

Can you tile over painted walls, the answer is yes providing you  -

Check the paint is not peeling or flaking from the wall, if it is you need to remove all loose paint, make sure the paint is clean, dry and grease free.

Wash with sugar soap to remove contanaments, then prime walls with a primer i use a latex primer which is basically an adhesive aditive i use when mixing my adhesive.

The product is mapei keriflex with isolastic latex added to the mix approx one cup full to 10 litre of adhesive mixed or half a 20 litre bucket of adhesive mix, add the water first then the latex then the adhesive, make sure the primer is dry you will notice that the walls are sticky and your adhesive will stick to the wall and give you  good full cover without the adhesive rolling off the wall.
